Oncology Aesthetics® is a very specialized field of aesthetics, where owner of A Beautiful You Skincare, Julie Valenti, is among a small percentage of licensed Aestheticians in the US who are certified in this important and life changing concentration. One of Julie's goals in becoming oncology trained is to educate cancer patients on how to care for their skin while undergoing cancer treatments. This field is designed specifically for clients who need a little extra TLC who have undergone or are presently undergoing oncology treatment. This specialized treatment should only be performed by an Oncology Trained Aesthetician®, the damage that could happen from a technician who is not properly trained can be severe, harmful, and extremely uncomfortable.

Oncology facial care complements medical oncology by implementing integrative therapies. Julie is also certified in facial reflexology, and Reiki.  These soothing, healing modalities if desired could be incorporated into each treatment.   Each facial is customized with a complete line of "oncology safe" only products. As appropriate for your individual needs facial acupressure, Ayurvedic Kansa, LED light therapy, and modified facial massage techniques may be incorporated with each facial.  Along with Julie's listening ear, you will experience much deserved relaxation, so you leave feeling more rejuvenated and your spirit is less stressed.

Medical Oncology treatments like radiation therapy, chemotherapy and medications can be very hard on the skin. Among the many side effects patients can suffer from varying degrees of hair loss, rashes, extremely sensitive dry skin, flaky, peeling, swelling, and susceptible to infection and sunburn.  Undergoing such treatment can be physically and emotionally challenging. Julie's goal is to make your visit as comfortable as possible, offering an appropriated, modified, and customized skin care treatment for each client's needs. An in-depth skin analysis and full understanding of each client's unique situation is taken into consideration in order to determine the best course of treatment for your skin. 

Whatever happens internally within our bodies will always reflect through the condition of our skin.  When a cancer diagnosis is given, it's a good idea to start strengthening and preparing the skin for the medical treatments that may lie ahead.  Well-prepared skin will be less likely to react as a result of treatment, and it will also recover and heal faster.  Once medical treatment has begun, aesthetic treatments can help to reduce the side-effects of inflammation, redness, irritation and dryness. In recovery, it's important to restore the barrier, structure, function, and immunity of the skin to promote growth of new skin cells and rebuild healthy skin.
